Course Description

These seminars are designed to evaluate, diagnose and develop a comprehensive treatment plan for the complex patient requiring interdisciplinary treatment. The postgraduate students will learn the importance of interdisciplinary and interprofessional treatment of patients and enhance communication between different specialties in the dental school.

The complex case can be defined as one that requires multiple inputs from various dental specialties (interdisciplinary) or from medical specialists even if the dental component is simple (interprofessional). The focus is to treat the patient as a whole and incorporate dental treatments into this philosophy for short term and long-term success.

The secondary aim of the seminar is to provide a forum for each specialty representative (Chair, Postgraduate Program Director or designated/invited representative) to present an update on latest information regarding technologies and scientific discoveries, which can facilitate the interdisciplinary treatment planning.
