Course Description

Learn the art of storyline development via visual sequential narrative. Find wonder where creative writing and literature meets visual expression and communication design. This course will teach students to pair text with imagery to create variations of a story. Using a variety of media and techniques, projects will cover picture only sequences, as well as text and image sequences. By the end of this course, students will be able to utilize storyboarding to execute cycles of drafting, critiquing, and editing within a sequence. The course will conclude with a final project in a format of student’s choosing to align with the goals of their professional portfolio.

Basic Enrollment Requirements: Unofficial Transcript – High School Diploma or current high school transcript (for high school students only in applicable classes), Bachelor’s Degree, or progress towards a Bachelor’s Degree + 3.0 GPA.

This section is also open to high school students who are 11th or 12th grade students. High School students who enroll will be prompted to submit an additional application after enrollment including: a high school transcript, letter of recommendation, parental permission, and other required consent forms.

This class meets online on Mondays and in person on Wednesdays. For online course meetings, access to a computer or other digital device and internet access are necessary for course participation. Any additional materials necessary for the first class meeting will be communicated to enrolled students by the instructor in advance. Otherwise, materials and supplies will be covered in the first class meeting.
