Course Description

Immerse yourself in the history of Western typography and lettering, and further develop your personal voice in graphic design. Learn to further utilize typography in an expressive way by mastering principles such as hierarchy, alignment, contrast, color and consistency. Project assignments will cover type in print and on the screen, exploring advanced typographical elements for portfolio application.

Basic Enrollment Requirements: Unofficial Transcript – High School Diploma or current high school transcript (for high school students only in applicable classes), Bachelor’s Degree, or progress towards a Bachelor’s Degree + 3.0 GPA.

This class meets in person on Tuesdays and online on Thursdays. For online course meetings, access to a computer or other digital device and internet access are necessary for course participation. This section is also open to high school students who are 11th or 12th grade students. High School students who enroll will be prompted to submit an additional application after enrollment including: a high school transcript, letter of recommendation, parental permission, and other required consent forms.
