Course Description

Analysis of Spanish language structure that moves beyond prescriptive grammar to linguistic description and explanation. Application of concepts from theoretical and applied linguistics to the Spanish sound system, word formation, and sentence structure, with attention to semantics, discourse pragmatics, and sociolinguistic variation. In Spanish. Recommendation: SPN 121 or instructor consent
