This course focuses on change management, emphasizing the distinction between leading and managing. I begin with the premise that the majority of our students are managers on the cusp of leadership, but are unsure and uncertain about which next steps in their leadership development are required. This approach fosters critical thinking and problem-solving, core components of active learning and professional development. We start and end with leadership guru John Kotter’s notion that great leaders live in the world of change; managers deal with the complexities and intricacies of such change. Also unique to this course is the appreciation and practical aspects of Peter Senge’s notion of organizational learning.     |
