Course Description

The aim of this course is to introduce students to systematic review methodology to help them develop an understanding of the essential components of a review and acquire the necessary skills to create publishable manuscripts. Rigorous systematic reviews are the most reliable means of evaluating the effectiveness of clinical and public health interventions. Additionally, the principles and methods employed in these reviews are applicable to other critical areas of healthcare and public health, such as disease prevalence, qualitative evidence, and diagnostic test accuracy. The course intends to provide a comprehensive theoretical understanding of all the fundamental aspects of conducting a high-quality systematic review, primarily focused on intervention effectiveness and exposure to risk factors. Students will learn how to develop concise protocols for systematic reviews and gain insight into meta-analysis techniques through practical experience with a dataset.
