Section Notes

The programming language R is best known as the dominant programming language for statistics, particularly within the biological sciences. But much more broadly than just stats, it’s a powerful tool for scientific computing. In this course, students will learn the basics of programming in R, and use this foundation as a jumping off point to explore theoretical and simulation-based approaches in biology. Specific topics will be informed and led by students’ interests. Potential topics include: the relationships between models, hypotheses, experiments, and data; statistical and mechanistic models, data simulation for validation of statistical models, stochastic simulations, and more.

This is an in-person course that follows the published schedule of course meetings and requires attendance at all sessions.
