Course Description

This course is designed to teach advanced graduate students in various specialty programs about the scientific and clinical concepts relevant to implant dentistry and alveolar tissue regeneration. Basic concepts include a review of hard and soft tissue biology and healing without and with dental implants and/or regenerative procedures, and conditions that might affect implant success; systemic and local risk factors; diagnosis and treatment planning including patient information and consent; surgical and prosthodontic considerations; complications in terms of their prevention and management. Various clinical indications involving implant-assisted rehabilitations will be discussed throughout the course addressing treatment planning, surgical and prosthodontic procedures. The course will also include a number of clinical case discussions.
